Farewell Col. Rafael Reynado Estrada
"Old Soldiers never Die...They just fade away..." Gen. Douglas MacArthur
With great sorrow, our esteemed COL. RAFAEL REYNADO ESTRADA, 98 yrs old, Founder and National Commander Emeritus of Defenders of Bataan and Corregidor, Inc. (DBC) and one of the few surviving WWII veterans who fought with the gallant men of the 2nd Regular Division USAFFE, peacefully joined our creator last 17 October 2016 at exactly 3PM.
Highlights of his military service:
- 2nd Regular Division USAFFE
- The Defense of Luzon and Battle of Bataan 1941-1942
- POW incarcerated at Camp O'Donnell 1942
After the war he was appointed Director of the Philippine Veterans Board by President Magsaysay and became Commissioner of the Veterans Claims Commission.
To continue his love and concern for his comrades, Col. Estrada developed the Blue Ridge Subdivision in Quezon City exclusively for WWII veterans.
The passing away of another generation.... We give a snappy salute to an officer and a gentleman, a father, a friend and a comrade in arms.
